Avbdwb celebrated the 85th Birthday of Prof Debabrata Ray on 20th July 2025. He was one of the founder of the Association. He became the international figure of the voluntary blood donation movement.
He contributed the National Blood policy of India, fought against buying and selling of blood, Concept of School Education program to increase awareness on voluntary blood donation. He became the advisor of NACO and different policy matter related to Health for Govt of West Bengal, Syllabus Committees and Govt of India. His relentless efforts brought the concept of 100% voluntary blood program. He thought to bring the New Blood Act which could not be materialized but his followers are still working on it.
That day a seminar was organised at ICMARD Building, Kolkata. Tow veteran voluntary was recognised.
Shri Sunil Mukherjee from VBDA Jharkhand has been identified for his extraordinary efforts to bring the Voluntary Blood Program in Jharkhand State.
Shree Debkrishna Bhattacharyya was also awarded for his contribution in blood donation movement in Bankura as well as in the state of West Bengal.
This program was scheduled from 4 pm till 6 pm on that day.
