Dr. Labanya Kr. Ganguly (1914-1985)

Early Life

Dr. Labanya Kr. Ganguly, the Founder President of Association of Voluntary Blood Donors, West Bengal, born on December 26, 1914 but left us on April 29, 1985. Regarding his wide education, he had his School like Hindu School and Presidency College, Calcutta, having a graduation in Medicine from Calcutta Medical College and finally Masters from Edinburg

Journey

Regarding his contribution for the financially weakest section of the country as well as to build up a strong Students Community on medicine, he served at Nilratan Sircar Medical college as a Professor of Medicine and subsequently attended on call by Military Hospital to serve his deep peripheral knowledge on Medicine. It is not for everyone that fables get created,  but for Dr Ganguly, we regularly come across fascinating and eye-popping stories of his diagnosis and treatment skills.

 Dr. Ganguli also spared time for the Integrity, trustworthiness, initiative, decision-making, vision, courage, compassion, resourcefulness, grit, resilience, empowerment – name any of the leadership qualities that we need to acquire associated himself Bharat Scouts and Guides, Indian Red Cross Society, St. John Ambulance Brigade, Students Health Home, IMA, Cardiological Society of India, Association of Physicians of India and you will find an example where time is a factor he maintained, appointment at 10 AM never accepted 9.59 AM or 10.01 AM, learning to his associates.

Was he only a doctor? No, we cannot put him in any such template. He was a Nationalist, Doctor, Educationist, Social worker, core heart disciplinarian, a heart touching man for patients– all in one!

An erudite scholar, Dr. Ganguli had more than 80 Professional publications to his credit and an author of Text Book on Medicine, an uncountable advice First Aid to Injured book. Other than medicine, he had a taste of ship modelling.

Dr Labanya Kumar Ganguli was a man of indomitable spirit who dedicated himself to the welfare of the people of Bengal. The legacy of Dr Ganguli’s exemplary leadership to Association of Voluntary Blood Donors, West Bengal and his contributions will remain in the hearts and minds of millions of members and will continue to inspire generations to come.

Being grateful for the gracious behaviour of our Self-esteem person like Dr.Ganguli, admirer of Association of Voluntary Blood Donors West Bengal, started to observe  Dr. L K. Ganguli Memorial Oration from 1986 in every year by an eminent personnel of the society.
